The Chicken and the Egg Workshop

Saturday, September 15, 2018 {9:30-11:30 AM}

Presenter: Amy Milliron, owner of Hills of Milk and Honey

This workshop allows children (age 6-9) and their parents the opportunity to learn about two types of chicken operations that take place at Hills of Milk and Honey.

Farmer Amy will teach the children about laying chickens that share their eggs and meat chickens raised for food. A study of chicken life cycles, anatomy, uses of eggs, care and keeping tips, and how chickens contribute to the regenerative agriculture practices on the farm will be shared. Chef Jana will demonstrate multiple ways to cook eggs and share her tips for cracking eggs one-handed. And, did we mention baby chicks? ;-) Yes, baby chicks will be waiting for snuggles from eager kids, and adults too, of course. We will wrap up the day with a fun art activity!
